These instructions apply unless a separate Notice of Race and/or Sailing Instructions are published.
WFPHRF rules apply to PHRF classes.
One Design class rules of eligible participating classes apply.
In the event of conflict between WFPHRF rules, or One Design class rules and these instructions, these instructions shall prevail.
ENTRIES & ELIGIBILITY
Eligible boats must:
Meet applicable USCG, WFPHRF, and/or One Design Class safety requirements.
Pay an entry fee of $10, $15 for non-members.
PHRF boats must have a current WFPHRF Rating Certificate.
RLC ratings shall be used for fixed mark courses.
Buoy ratings shall be used for dropped mark courses.
Boats which are within the WFPHRF region that do not have a current WFPHRF Rating Certificate may compete in the appropriate PHRF class; however they shall not be scored.
Classes will be Spinnaker, Non-Spinnaker, Multi-Hull, Cruising, and any One Design having 3 or more entries.
Classes may be combined if there are fewer than 4 boats in a class.
NOTICE TO COMPETITORS
Notice to Competitors will be posted on the Official Notice Board located in the SSS clubhouse pavilion.
CHANGES TO SAILING INSTRUCTIONS
Any changes to the Sailing Instructions will be posted on the Official Notice Board located in the SSS Clubhouse pavilion.
SIGNALS MADE ASHORE
Signals made ashore will be displayed on the flagpole in front of the SSS Clubhouse.
When flag AP is displayed ashore, ‘1 minute’ is replaced with ‘not less than 1 hour’ in the race signal AP.
SCHEDULE OF RACES
The schedule time for the first Warning signal is 1325; the order of starts will be displayed from the RC signal boat.

The Racing Area is Sarasota Bay.
The Race Committee will display the course(s) to be sailed and the starting order of the classes on a white board from the RC boat.
Attachment 1 contains a description of Dropped Mark courses.
All marks are to be left to port unless followed by 'S', in which case it shall be left to starboard.
Marks 13, 15, 17, 19, and NP refer to Government maintained ICW marks.
Marks A through L refer to orange and yellow (private) marks maintained by SSS.
When permanent marks are used, the Start mark will be orange and yellow (private) SSS mark 'I'.
When dropped marks are used, the Start mark will be a dropped mark.
The Race Committee may change the Start mark at their discretion and will fly the 'L' (follow me) flag in order to do so, leading competitors to the new start mark.
Each boat shall sail by the race committee signal boat, hail her sail number, and be acknowledged by the race committee with a return hail of her sail number. This will be done before the warning flag of the first race in which she competes. Check in may alternatively be done by VHF channel 72 not later than the first warning of the day.
Races will be started using rule 26.
The starting line will be between a staff displaying an orange flag on the race committee signal boat and the course side of the designated starting mark.
Boats whose warning signal has not been made shall avoid the starting area during the starting sequence for other races.
The finish line will be between a staff displaying an orange flag on the race committee finish boat and the course side of the finish mark.
If the race committee is absent when a boat finishes, she should report her finishing (GPS) time, and her position in relation to nearby boats, to the race committee at the first reasonable opportunity.
CLOSED START/FINISH LINE
After completing the first leg of the course, a boat shall not cross the starting line.
A boat shall not cross the finishing line until she is completing the last leg of the course and finishes.
Boats may pass to port or starboard of the Start/Finish line when they are not starting or finishing.
A boat that breaks this rule shall not correct her error, this changes rule 28.1.
A boat that breaks this rule may be exonerated if she takes a One-Turn Penalty.
Rule 44.1 is changed so that the Two-Turns Penalty is replaced by the One-Turn Penalty.
Boats failing to finish within 3 hours of their start shall be scored DNF without a hearing. This changes rules 35, A4, and A5.
Boats failing to finish within 45 minutes after the first boat of their class sails the course and finishes shall be scored DNF without a hearing. This changes rules 35, A4, and A5.
PROTEST AND REQUESTS FOR REDRESS
Protest forms are available outside the SSS Club Office. Protest shall be delivered to the race committee within the protest time limit.
The protest time limit is 30 minutes after the official arrival of the race committee signal boat at the dock. The same time limit applies to protests by the race committee about incidents they observe in the racing area and to requests for redress. This changes rules 61.3 and 62.2.
The hearing schedule will be posted on the Official Notice Board.
Alternatively, hearings may be scheduled on the next Thursday beginning at 1800 hours.
The Low Point Scoring System, Rule A2 will apply, except no race will be excluded.
Except in an emergency, a boat shall neither make radio transmissions while racing nor receive communications not available to all boats. This restriction also applies to mobile telephones.
Prizes will be awarded based upon the participants in each class as follows:
Up to 4 boats = 1 prize, 5 to 8 boats = 2 prizes, 9 or more boats = 3 prizes.

Competitors compete in the regatta entirely at their own risk. See rule 4 Decision to Race. The organizing authority will not accept any liability for damage or personal injury or death sustained in conjunction with or prior to, during, or after the regatta.
