We love to socialize.

The social events at the Sarasota Sailing Squadron range from long standing holiday dinners such as Thanksgiving and New Year’s, to occasional movie nights and parties with music and food after sailing events.

The year kicks off with the annual New Year’s Eve Party, with food, music, and fireworks over the Ringling Bridge. You can’t imagine a better venue for ringing in the New Year, than a waterfront clubhouse with good friends overlooking a beautiful bay and fireworks in the distance. The Easter egg hunt with a real Easter Bunny in attendance marks springtime for the kids. July 4th is a big day at the Squadron with a pig roast after the sailors get in from the annual 4th of July Regatta, there is music and, as always, a water slide for the kids. Throughout the summer, on the last Friday of every month there is a Docktail Party - music and food have the place buzzing after the Friday night races!

Oktoberfest happens in the end of September, with German music and Geier's brats, sausages and kraut. A Halloween Party in October with its spooky decorations and costume contest is always a favorite with kids and adults alike. Thanksgiving dinner is hosted at the squadron with rows of turkeys and mounds of mashed potatoes; members bring potluck deserts. Christmas dinner is held in mid December to coincide with the Parade of Boats for which we have the perfect viewing platform. The Commodore’s Cup competition and dinner wrap up the year. Occasional movie nights, book reviews, travel documentaries and folk music concerts by the Sarasota Folk Club are scattered throughout the year.
