The “Hangover Regatta” was a very breezy event and several of our PHRF ships were either forced to retire or had equipment failure. With over 25 vessels on the Bay, (12 Opti’s) it was a great way to start the New Year.
Our first of 2011 “Sailmonster” BOTY pursuit race held on Sunday January 9th, was well attended but there were a few glitches. Your Race Captain was under the weather and while I was there in spirit my body could not handle being a sea for more than an hour or so. PRO Peter Robinson tried to set up for the race only to find that he could not get access to the office to pick up a key for Big Ben. Other efforts to use the Mako and Whaler also were complicated due to mooring inspections that were supposed to be completed earlier in the day. We still had a dozen or more participating PHRF boats on the course and Captain Dave Ettinger collected the finish times and places. A large fleet of Flying Scots also competed on the circle and I counted at least a dozen or more. I will post the results as soon as I have collected them from our RC volunteers.
