BOTY Sarasota Bay Cup: This weekend the Bird Key YC will be hosting the Sarasota Bay Cup.   There is still time to enter and the price is right!!!!   $45.00 will get you a great dinner and a Polo Shirt plus a great party on Friday and Saturday night.

“Bikini Cup/Ladies at the Helm Regatta” This event is not far off and we are looking for a strong turnout. Sunday, June 12^th has been reserved for this fun day on the Bay.  Rules are simple!!!    All gals onboard will man the winches, hoist the sails and drive the boat. T-Shirts have been ordered and each Captain gets a complimentary shirt and additional shirts are for sale for a modest price. The owner of the ship, if male, may be onboard but is asked to only assist in the event there may be an emergency.

“Single/Double Handed-Around the Bay Distance Race”

Here is your chance to show your sailing skills.   I am always impressed when I watch Joe Practico and George McCarthy sail their San Juan 21’s solo.   The captain of Thistle also does a terrific “Solo” job on his J-24 as well.   Now it is your turn to show your skills. Saturday June 18^th has been set aside to allow you to sail either single or double-handed “Around the Bay”.   I mean all the way around the Bay.   This 13nm+ course will start and end at IC-13 but you will go to IC-17 and then back to IC-15 and then to “J” and complete the SSS Circle counterclockwise, pass “L” to starboard and finish at IC-13.   Details will be posted and competitors will contribute a $10 entry fee.  Yes, you will get a T-Shirt if you complete the race.
