I would like to thank each and every one that showed up to sustain and elevate our mission and identity over the last year. You’ve efforts furthered the journey of our remarkable volunteer organization and notable “Sailing Club”. The unmistakable spirit of our organization has never been more obvious. The important collective passion and love for the water and the function the membership plays in our “Club” experience was unmistakable in 2012. Despite all the ups and downs, wins and losses the “Club” never lost contact with our signature quality and at the end of the day we had some real fun.
I hope you had the opportunity to participate and share in the Dec. 8th, Commodores Cup/ Holiday Dinner/ Club Awards Ceremony & Holiday Light Show. Much like last year hundreds converged on our little Club to enjoy great racing (20+ boats), another marvelous dinner (thanks again to Cassandra & friends) and some well adorned boats heading to the Sarasota Holiday Parade. New to this year’s event was Commodore Jennings awarding and recognizing many of the Sailors and volunteers for their extraordinary contributions. He and Deb St. James awarded the Clubs many perpetual awards and thanked so many all before the parade kicked off. Many volunteers and sailors were recognized, especially:
Ed Steenstra, Volunteer of the Year * Cheri & Mike McNulty, Cruiser of the Year * Doug Dearden, Racer of the Year.
Thank you, Deb St. James for organizing and updating the many Club perpetual awards. This is a daunting endeavor every year and your effort and contributions are especially valued.
We have many upcoming educational, sailing and social events. Keep an eye on the Club Calendar! Next Party/ Race is the New Years Eve/ Hangover Regatta. I look forward to see you at the Club. Happy Holidays,
